Square I Beam

The square I-beam is an I-section steel member where the overall depth and flange width are approximately equal, resulting in a nearly square profile. This is distinct from standard I-beams (with narrower flanges) and wide-flange or H-beams (with broader flanges and deeper webs). Like other I-sections, it consists of two parallel flanges connected by a central web, providing high efficiency in resisting bending about its strong axis and shear forces through the web. Square I-beams are used in structural frames where a balanced section is desired, but the term is not a standard designation and should not be confused with H-beams or wide-flange beams.
